A portrait painting usually depicts the face of a particular person. In literature, the portrait is a literary genre derived from pictorial portraiture, oscillating between reality and fiction.
My portrait
series is mostly inspired by American literature. Each face will put forward characteristics described in a novel, an essay or a poem unless it is a political portrait.
I use regular acrylic and highly pigmented vinyl acrylic to fully make use of the light, or the lack of it.
I chose not to varnish these paintings to respect the quality of the vinyl paint (used in frescos) and at the same time, to “level up” with the quintessential story of the characters.
