New gallery representation

Posted on March 26, 2019 at 3:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Finding  new galleries is like finding a new job. You submit your bio and cv  after having selecting few galleries of your choice and hope the managers see the same fit as you and will want to work with you.

I won't tell you yet where and when it will happen but I am working on it soon.

Meanwhile, I decided to delete my gallery on Saatchi Art website. Time for renewal. I elected a new international platform, European more exactly based in France.  This will open a new market to Europe.

Stay tuned..

Discovering Calligraphy

Posted on February 16, 2019 at 7:10 PM Comments comments (1)

For a long time I have been intrigued by Calligraphy. It is a beautiful art with a deep philosophy, It is a written language read by Chinese, vietanmese,  Koreans and Japanese although they use different pronounciation.

"The Heart of the Brush", The Splendor of East Asian Calligraphy has a different approach to it that allows the art to be taught easily.

My first surprise is how much  similarity there is between TAi Chi and Calligraphy!. You breath  the same way while doing it and the philosophy behind either art is essential to its understanding.

Practice, pratice makes perfect.

Stay tuned.

Tai Chi, Chen style as an long term artistic education.

As right now I am the happiest artist.

As part of my new year 2019 resolutions I wanted to take some Tai Chi classes to work on the concept of energy and take some calligraphy workshop to learn the tradional discipline of chinese fine art.

As it turns out I think that Tai Chi classes will be enough for me in 2019 . Both of these two disciplines require hours and many years of praticing to really integrate the full chinese rigourous forms of art.

Tai Chi is not disappointing me, to no surprise, and will probably cover  the discovery of the energy in the movement I am looking for and more.

I decided to go ahead and do a succinct research on possible tai Chi classes on internet. I began to look for close to my studio places, so the commmute would no become to be a burden.

The closest one was just 13 minutes away. For the purpose of being efficient I decided to call them and have a feel for the place over the phone.  The first exchange with the instructor was good, he was himself an artist and I could come next wednesday.....

So without knowing much about the different styles of Tai Chi I could choose from, I went head first.

One hour  after a Tai Chi Chen Style  practice with Professor Florin Szondi, 20th Generation  Lineage, Chen Taiji Family and I was hooked. I know that a lot of practice and time and hard work will have to happen. but I know that it is exactly what i was looking for.

I am so inspired and I know that Tai Chi Chen Styles practice will bring energy, movement, balance and more to my art. It will bring MUCH MORE to my over 50 year old body and mind too.

Lucky me.  Stay tuned!

WUTC/ NPR Recording

I was invited by DANTE'S  OLD SOUTH RADIO to record an interview on WUTC in Chattanooga, TN and I am very grateful for that. It felt as I was live on radio though.I went  on talking too much about something I did not want to give the priority  to and did not really talk as much as I wanted about my art  and myself because It has always been so hard to talk about me and the part of myself I put into my painting- which is about the whole me- There is a reason why I paint and do not do conferences, isn't it?

It will air Jan 20, 2019 at 8:00pm on NPR, FM 88.1 . if you are interested . Feedback welcome.

Earthy and warm, one of the public favorites

This 48x48in Vinyl on canvas artwork has been a success on social media. It is certainely one of the public favorites.URBANE BRONZE 1. Warm, earthy but a lot of light, this is the perfect  balance for  a central piece. It will be easily the focal point of any room. I can help you get the perfect wooden floater frame to go with it. Gold or champagne color looks very good with it.

Commission artwork by artist Isabelle Gautier

Posted on November 1, 2018 at 2:05 PM Comments comments (0)

This commission work was  a collaboration between the client and the artist. The client selected one of my painting and from there asked me to created a similar artwork but different size. The custom size canvas had to have a custom frame . With the client we chose the shine of the painting, matte white background and shiny satin black marks for a perfect striking contrast. Then the client suggested a bit more gold leaf, so I added some in the perfect spot, but then I felt the black itself needed to be tweaked to respect the balance. It is a whole, and very often you will end up changing more that just a spot..

Here is a picture of the result before shipping.
