Artist's Challenge.( Personal notes)

Posted on April 13, 2019 at 5:45 PM Comments comments (0)

As an Expressionist artist you have the obligation to be innovative. The best way to go is being yourself.

Being yourself is scary .

After many years when you finally think you get closer to finding yourself and feel strong enough you might find your expression, the one that really feels like you. Then comes the scary part.

As I am feeling out of process, maybe a bit disrespecful (later blog post), deeply in me I feel strong about what I am creating, but how do I go from there. Being different should open doors!  Being different means YOU have to prove your process and yourself even more. It means you are alone.

I am so done explaining myself, justifying my work.

I am passionate. Don't get me started about what motivates me. Everything is beginning to make one and it is a good feeling.

Finding new gallery and make a name for yourself. I feel I need to take a jump..how high though. I need to be even stronger...

I am still hanging on my older series as a safety net.

Public art in France

Posted on March 30, 2019 at 4:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Today, was the inaugration of the renovated city hall  of Isigny Le Buat, a commune des Communautes du Mont Saint-Michel, in France.

I was born in this small village in Normandy, France. My father has been the lawyer for this village for 30 years and has known everybody and every  inch of it.

My mom still lives there.

In the center of the village sits an old chapel, built in 1574  and renovated in 1986. It is with the Town Hall and the schools the heart of the town.

Two years ago, I promised I would create a painting for te new Town Hall. I decided to paint the Chapel.

Today, it sits in the Salon d'Honneur. And I am honored for the opportunity.

New gallery representation

Posted on March 26, 2019 at 3:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Finding  new galleries is like finding a new job. You submit your bio and cv  after having selecting few galleries of your choice and hope the managers see the same fit as you and will want to work with you.

I won't tell you yet where and when it will happen but I am working on it soon.

Meanwhile, I decided to delete my gallery on Saatchi Art website. Time for renewal. I elected a new international platform, European more exactly based in France.  This will open a new market to Europe.

Stay tuned..

Discovering Calligraphy

Posted on February 16, 2019 at 7:10 PM Comments comments (1)

For a long time I have been intrigued by Calligraphy. It is a beautiful art with a deep philosophy, It is a written language read by Chinese, vietanmese,  Koreans and Japanese although they use different pronounciation.

"The Heart of the Brush", The Splendor of East Asian Calligraphy has a different approach to it that allows the art to be taught easily.

My first surprise is how much  similarity there is between TAi Chi and Calligraphy!. You breath  the same way while doing it and the philosophy behind either art is essential to its understanding.

Practice, pratice makes perfect.

Stay tuned.

Tai Chi, Chen style as an long term artistic education.

As right now I am the happiest artist.

As part of my new year 2019 resolutions I wanted to take some Tai Chi classes to work on the concept of energy and take some calligraphy workshop to learn the tradional discipline of chinese fine art.

As it turns out I think that Tai Chi classes will be enough for me in 2019 . Both of these two disciplines require hours and many years of praticing to really integrate the full chinese rigourous forms of art.

Tai Chi is not disappointing me, to no surprise, and will probably cover  the discovery of the energy in the movement I am looking for and more.

I decided to go ahead and do a succinct research on possible tai Chi classes on internet. I began to look for close to my studio places, so the commmute would no become to be a burden.

The closest one was just 13 minutes away. For the purpose of being efficient I decided to call them and have a feel for the place over the phone.  The first exchange with the instructor was good, he was himself an artist and I could come next wednesday.....

So without knowing much about the different styles of Tai Chi I could choose from, I went head first.

One hour  after a Tai Chi Chen Style  practice with Professor Florin Szondi, 20th Generation  Lineage, Chen Taiji Family and I was hooked. I know that a lot of practice and time and hard work will have to happen. but I know that it is exactly what i was looking for.

I am so inspired and I know that Tai Chi Chen Styles practice will bring energy, movement, balance and more to my art. It will bring MUCH MORE to my over 50 year old body and mind too.

Lucky me.  Stay tuned!
